Couple's caravan wrecked by fire
10th July 2008
A Sussex couple's caravan has been destroyed in an arson attack, local media has reported.
According to the Mid Sussex Times, firefighters have confirmed that the caravan owned by Sharon and Jason Hadley was deliberately set alight and consequently destroyed on Tuesday (July 8th).
Mr and Mrs Hadley watched as their static caravan was eaten up by flames close to their home in Burgess Hill, along with all of the equipment they used when they went camping.
Due to the blaze, the couple can now no longer go on holiday, highlighting the importance of taking out a mobile or static caravan insurance policy.
Police are now investigating the attack and attempting to determine who caused the fire.
Speaking to the local newspaper, Mrs Hadley asserted that there was nothing within the caravan that could have caused it to set alight accidentally.
She explained: "We had some cylinders in there but there was no electricity in there at all. It was not possible to set a spark."
Last month, AA Caravan Insurance found that more caravans are stolen in the Midlands than in any other part of the country.
